THE AIR BUTTON
The bigger button on the bass keyboard is called the air button. Press it to open and close the bellows without making any sounds.

The HOHNER XS was developed for children from four to seven years of age so we made it 60 percent lighter than a traditional accordion. It covers the following range: treble side B3-G5 and three bass rows: F2-A2.

Since we needed to do more than just shrink an accordion to a child's size, we partnered with academics, music educators, and designers to develop the HOHNER XS. Its benefits: easy fastening with the Click n Play straps and a treble board with an ergonomically adjusted angle.

Its adjustable hand strip means that the HOHNER XS always has the right setup – whether a child is playing or an adult is giving a quick demo.
JUST IN CASE
The accordion is no Stradivarius. If something happens to one of these famed string instruments, it means more than just the chords being out of tune. By contrast, the HOHNER XS can stand up to quite a bit because we opted for a robust plastic housing and an equally stable internal design when manufacturing this product.

As a Father of a 5 year old Girl, I'm super-excited for the release of this instrument! Finally, a quality instrument that is Made in Germany and affordable. The Hohner XS is targeted towards kids ages 4 to 7 - Search You Tube for "Hohner XS" as Hohner has many short videos.
I need to write this further explanation after selling several of these accordions:
This is NOT an accordion for Full-Sized Adults - We've had a few Full-Sized Adults return this accordion thinking they could play it. This accordion is geared towards kids ages 4 to 7, per the Hohner website. Full-Sized Adults will find the "key travel" (meaning how you get around on this instrument) on this accordion to be frustratingly compact with the size of the piano keys being smaller than average and the distance between the bass buttons is also very, very compact.
Please see measurements of the white piano keys they are 3/4 size or .75", the distance between the bass buttons and the width/depth of the instrument, all in the pictures and description. Conversely, a Full-Sized accordion has 1" white piano keys. If a Very Petite Adult wants to buy this accordion, they can at their own risk - We no longer accept returns simply because "It is too small" as you have all the information to make a correct, informed decision. Having said all of that, it will be a great accordion for your child! Sold "As-Is".
